neondisease livejournal
I was browing webpages today and I stumbled on this. I was all, "neondisease? My old friend went by that!" and then I was all, "my gay ass friend also had purple hair like that!" and then I was like, "and he was so terribly vain he would put his own photo in a strip down the side like that!" so poked around and yes! it was my old #comicbooks chum, spaCeb0y! I had the biggest crush on him, but he had the hots for some fourteen year old with shaved eyebrows. Very sad.

When Women Compare Bodies
Pretty interesting article about women and body issues, found (of all places) on msn. Also on body issues, I reprinted the eating disorder entries from earlier this summer.

Also on msn:

Money vs. Happiness, which is something I think every single person I know needs to read.

and:

I QUIT, just to help motivate you after you decide happiness. :)

Went to the flea market today, bought about ten adverts, an old polaroid and a commodore 64. Shameful small scanner, the adverts are too big to scan properly, but there are a couple of gems (imho, of course :)). May splice them together later. Haven't tried to hook up the c64 yet, either. Busy afternoon. Watched Three Kings, was a lot better than expected, even though I spent half the movie trying to spot Mark(y Mark and the Funky Bunch)'s third nipple. Found it.

AccessAir blah blah bankrupt blah blah no service in Peoria -
Awhile back I tried to schedule a flight from Peoria to LA. I kept seeing commercials for AccessAir on television (and hearing them on the radio) so I gave them a call, only to be told they didn't have an itinerary and that they hoped to have one by the following Monday or Tuesday. Apparently despite the number of billboards and adverts saying, "Fly locally! AccessAir to [city of choice]", we're not getting it.

A funny article, about a cougar in the cemetary about a mile away from my house, on the trail I used to run. I love the author, I love the digs on local "celebs" .. my brother just read it and said "this guy's a moron". YMMV, I guess.

Dean and Deluca online
I guess I'm just in a cooking mood. First, AllRecipes, now Dean and Deluca. Oh! And Williams-Sonoma, one of my personal favorite sites. This is what happens when you watch those cooking shows on PBS all morning!

Speaking of which, I was watching a show called "Mexico, One Dish at a Time" and they made a rice/milk drink (and cinnamon and almonds) with a fruit sauce (he used raspberry). I didn't write down the recipe because I assumed it would be at the PBS website, but it's not. I don't even know what it's called! If you do, let me know.. I am sure I could find a recipe online if I knew what I was looking for.

Find your best place to live
I got (in this order): Boston, Long Island, DC, San Fran, NYC, Chicago, Pittsburgh and three cities in New Jersey. Actually that's pretty cool, since I figured within five years I will settled in either Chicago or Boston.

My grandparents love the internet
My grandparents always send me animated cards and forwarded joke lists. Usually these are accompanied with messages like, "Win a billion dollars! Win a billion dollars!". Jenn said my family could be an AOL commercial - we're ALL online, all over the country. What this means is that I'm always being "dragged" into AIM chatrooms with people I've never met. Yay, internet!

Biscotti Recipes
I love these biscotti cookies I always get when I go out for tea, but I've never tried to make them before. I picked some up from the store, but they don't mention having "anise" in them, and almost all of these recipes do. Does anyone know what sort of flavor anise is? I think I will be making cookies today anyway. :)

Real World 1-5
I got into a debate with another nameless minion about what order the Real Worlds were. I said, NYC was first, SF was third, and London was number four. I didn't know number two. He said NYC first, then SF, then something else, then London. It took me forever to find it (MTV website sucks my ass) but here you go: NYC, LA, SF, London, and Miami. Because you're as obsessed as me, you're just in denial.

This is why they call it a web, or something.
So I have discovered this whole secret diaryland underground that I had no idea existed! I mean, everyone knows about mop, but there are lots more than that!

First, I found Nictate through a nameless minion. She's very funny! And she started girlboy, where lots of people submit their ideal list. Also through her, I found Kuinileti, outbox and Garcia. And through outbox I found badjuju, who held me captivated for hours. And that's like, four diaries, right? EXCEPT THERE ARE SO MANY MORE! Like dozens! DOZENS OF GOOD DIARIES! I haven't time to read all of these, because I just got a job, but still. I want to be in this diaryland clique!

(more diaryland diaries I found: grim, malice, and rhetoric but also more, god, so many diaries. Unfair.

Enoki World
Today I found this neat page with all of this vintage clothing and handbags and stuff. Everyone who knows me knows that I am an absolute sucker for vintage handbags and eyeglasses, so this places was the most awesome ever.

WELL THEN! I found this little zine thing they do, and it's positively hilarious! Like, here:

"In the shallowest of terms, your man is one of your main accessories."

And, "Now we move right along to the eBay seller who has never owned a purse more expensive than a Liz Claiborne pleather bag but took it upon herself to sell the entire contents of her Aunt Mable's house in Duluth, Minnesota."

and "eBay is like an AOL chat room. You'll have a seemingly professional seller with an alleged English Literature degree and a model with a decent body wearing Issey Miyake clothes in what looks like a nice house. The reality is, you've got a sweaty, middle-aged woman who never leaves her house, sitting at her computer with a scanner and an ashtray that is piled as high as Mount Fuji. Behind her is a pile of clothes from The Disabled Veterans store and she's frantically sewing in vintage designer labels that she bought from yet another sweaty seller on eBay. If you could actually SEE half of the people that are trying to sell you fabulous clothing, it would be enough to make you want to wear nothing but J. Crew for the rest of your life.", from the same page.

Simply wonderful.
